When planning a kitchen remodel, one of the biggest decisions you’ll make is choosing your cabinets. Cabinets aren’t just for storage. They set the tone for the entire space and influence everything from your countertops and flooring to your lighting and hardware.
Whether your style leans modern, traditional, or somewhere in between, choosing the right cabinets can completely transform your kitchen. At Apex Projects, we help homeowners throughout Lincoln, Nebraska select cabinetry that fits their style, budget, and everyday needs. As authorized dealers and installers of premium cabinet brands, we guide our clients through every step of the selection process so they feel confident in every decision.
Why Cabinets Matter So Much
Cabinets are often the largest visual feature in a kitchen. They can make a room feel bright and open, warm and inviting, or sleek and contemporary.
Quality cabinetry is a long-term investment. That’s why it’s important to choose cabinets that not only look great today but will continue to fit your home for years to come.
The right cabinet selection should complement your:
- Countertops
- Flooring
- Backsplash
- Paint colors
- Lighting fixtures
- Cabinet hardware
When these finishes work together, your kitchen feels intentional and timeless.
The Most Popular Kitchen Cabinet Styles in Lincoln Homes
Shaker Cabinets
Shaker cabinets continue to be one of the most popular choices for homeowners in Lincoln. Their simple, clean design works with nearly every style, from farmhouse to transitional to contemporary.
Because of their versatility, shaker cabinets can easily be updated with different hardware, paint colors, or countertops as trends evolve.
Slim Shaker Cabinets
For homeowners wanting a more modern look, slim shaker cabinets have become increasingly popular. With narrower frame details, they offer a clean appearance while still adding subtle character.
They’re a great option for new custom homes and contemporary kitchen remodels.
Flat Panel Cabinets
Flat panel cabinets, sometimes called slab cabinets, offer a minimalist appearance with smooth, uninterrupted surfaces.
These cabinets pair beautifully with modern lighting, waterfall islands, and sleek hardware, making them a favorite for homeowners who love contemporary design.
Traditional Raised Panel Cabinets
While modern kitchens continue to grow in popularity, traditional raised panel cabinetry remains a timeless option for many Lincoln homes.
These cabinets feature more decorative detailing and pair well with classic architectural styles and warm, inviting finishes.
Natural Wood Cabinets
Natural wood cabinetry has made a strong comeback in recent years. Instead of all-white kitchens, many homeowners are choosing warm wood tones that add texture and character.
Popular wood finishes include:
- White Oak
- Walnut
- Rift-cut Oak
- Light stained finishes
Natural wood cabinets create a welcoming feel while allowing the beauty of the wood grain to shine through.
Cabinet Colors Homeowners Are Loving
Kitchen color trends have shifted over the past few years. Instead of cool gray kitchens, many homeowners are choosing warmer, softer tones that feel timeless.
Some of today’s most popular cabinet colors include:
- Warm White
- Soft Greige
- Sage Green
- Natural Oak
- Walnut
- Navy Kitchen Islands
- Black Accent Cabinets
The goal isn’t simply to follow a trend. It’s to choose colors that fit your home’s style and create a space you’ll enjoy for years.
Beautiful Cabinets Should Also Be Functional
While appearance is important, functionality matters just as much.
During the design process, we help homeowners think beyond cabinet doors and colors by incorporating storage solutions that make everyday life easier.
Popular cabinet features include:
- Soft-close doors and drawers
- Deep drawers for pots and pans
- Pull-out spice racks
- Hidden trash and recycling storage
- Appliance garages
- Pull-out pantry shelves
- Built-in organizers
Small details like these can make a big difference in how your kitchen functions every day.
